Game 3 college world series

The team with the best regular season record gets home field advantage in the World Series, meaning they get Games 1 and 2 at home, along with a potential Games 6 and 7. https://vege-chandra.info/ The other team gets Games 3 and 4, and a possible Game 5, at home.

The final score — Dodgers 6, Yankees 3 — does not scream classic. It is misleading. On Friday night, the 52,394 souls lucky enough to witness Game 1 in person beheld the rare sporting event that teems with hoopla only to find it exceeded. The two most famous franchises in baseball, genuine elites of their coasts, fought. And then with one swing, on a first-pitch 93 mph fastball from Nestor Cortes, Freeman managed to deliver the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history and limp around the bases 36 years after Kirk Gibson famously did the same.

For the Yankees, getting outfielder Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres proved to be crucial, as his clutch extra-inning home run in Game 5 of the ALCS helped his team secure a spot in the World Series.

You’ve got Giancarlo Stanton trying to continue a prolific postseason career in which he has hit homers at a better rate than Babe Ruth. And you’ve got Gerrit Cole and Yoshinobu Yamamoto trying to do what they set out to do when they signed the two largest pitching pacts in history.

With the game still tied entering the eighth, Arizona struck. After Mike Stanton recorded the first out of the inning, Luis Gonzalez singled and Erubiel Durazo hit a double to bring him in. Matt Williams followed by grounding into a fielder’s choice off of Ramiro Mendoza, which scored pinch runner Midre Cummings and gave the team a 3–1 lead.

During the offseason, several Yankees moved on to other teams or retired, the most notable changes being the free agent departures of Martinez and Knoblauch to the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals, and Brosius and O’Neill retiring. Martinez would later return to the Yankees to finish his career in 2005.

The bases were loaded, but Joe Torre pulled his infield in to cut the run down at the plate. In a similar situation in Game 5 in the 11th inning he had played the infield back at double-play depth, which allowed second baseman Alfonso Soriano to snare Reggie Sanders’ bases-loaded line drive.

After winning the NL West again in 2002 the Diamondbacks were swept 3–0 by St. Louis in the NLDS. From here they declined, losing 111 games in 2004 as Bob Brenly was fired during that season. Arizona would not win another NL West title until 2007. Schilling was traded to the Boston Red Sox after the 2003 season and in 2004 helped lead them to their first World Series championship since 1918. He helped them win another championship in 2007 and retired after four years with Boston, missing the entire 2008 season with a shoulder injury. Johnson was traded to the Yankees after the 2004 season, a season that saw him throw a perfect game against the Atlanta Braves, though he would be traded back to the Diamondbacks two years later and finish his career with the San Francisco Giants in 2009. The last player from the 2001 Diamondbacks roster, Lyle Overbay, retired following the 2014 season with the Milwaukee Brewers while the last player from the 2001 Yankees, Randy Choate, retired following the 2016 season.

Buster Olney, who covered the Yankees for The New York Times before joining ESPN, would write a book titled The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty, published in 2004. The book is a play by play account of Game 7 in addition to stories about key players, executives, and moments from the 1996–2001 dynasty. In a 2005 reprinting, Olney included a new epilogue covering the aftermath of the 2001 World Series up to the Boston Red Sox epic comeback from down 3–0 in the 2004 ALCS.

Stanton’s sixth-inning home run and subsequent stare — not to mention Flaherty’s forlorn face after realizing the mistake he’d made — left the Dodgers trailing 2-1, and marked the beginning of the scheming between Boone and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who had left in Flaherty for the third time through the order and paid dearly. Boone turning to Weaver in the eighth after Ohtani doubled off the top of the wall and advanced to third thanks to New York’s sloppy defense was strategically sound but failed to prevent the Dodgers from tying the score.

StubHub reports sales outpaced last year’s final figures and were four times higher than the pace of the 2022 Series. Sales for Games 3 through 5 in New York were 40% higher than for Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 in Los Angeles.

Additionally, this World Series was contested between the two eventual winners of the most valuable player (MVP) awards in their respective leagues: Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers. This was the first World Series since 2012 (when Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants faced Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers) to feature the two league MVPs from that season. Judge won the American League (AL) MVP Award in 2022, while Ohtani won two AL MVP awards unanimously with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 and 2023. During the 2024 regular season, Judge hit 58 home runs while Ohtani hit 54 during his 50–50 season, meaning that this is the first time in Major League Baseball history that two batters who hit 50 home runs in the same regular season are playing against each other in the World Series. Because of the renewal of the rivalry between the two storied franchises, and the World Series debuts of both Ohtani and Judge, many regarded the matchup as a “dream” World Series in the lead-up to the event.

With the win, the Dodgers won their eighth World Series championship in franchise history, tying their longtime rivals the San Francisco Giants for the second-most among National League clubs and the fifth-most overall. The Dodgers also joined their 2020 team, the 2018 Red Sox, the 2016 Cubs, the 2013 Red Sox, the 2009 Yankees, the 2007 Red Sox, and the 1998 Yankees as teams to win a World Series after having the best regular-season record in MLB in the wild card era. The Dodgers also set the record for most runs to come from behind from in a clinching game. The World Series MVP Award went to Freeman, the first player to homer in the first four games of a World Series and whose 12 RBIs tied the World Series record set in 1960 by Bobby Richardson. Freeman became the 12th player to win regular season MVP and World Series MVP in a career.

Though the game didn’t quite live up to some of the promises made during its successful Kickstarter campaign, it’s still a lot of fun to play. Nighttime can be particularly enjoyable due to how daunting everything feels, although playing with friends can make survival a lot more manageable. At least until the Blood Moon occurs on the seventh day, anyway.

Build your armory and make sure you have a weapon for every situation you might encounter. Assault Rifles and Shotguns are great combinations to make sure you’re equipped for most of what the game will throw at you, but there is a situation for every weapon.

Tip: Try to save your essence to Pack-a-Punch weapons of high rarity. Focus your essence spending on purple- and orange-colored rarity weapons, and blue if you must. The weapon image background shows the rarity color.

Wall Buy Weapons or Wall Buys are great ways to upgrade your basic gray rarity weapons that you start off with from your early game inventory. Every weapon, other than Wonder Weapons, that you pick up in a run are considered contraband. This means that these weapons cannot be customized. It does mean that you can collect Contraband, and as long as you extract with weapons, you can use them in a future run. You can start your first run with two weapons, but if you choose to leave one at home, try to find a Wall Buy early and equip a second weapon of a different ammo type, so that you have a backup or a weapon for a different purpose than the one you started with.

I’m sure you’re aware of these, and they aren’t really “zombie games”… but Fallout 3 and/or Fallout New Vegas have single player and open world down pat. And the mutants are pretty close to zombies. XD
