Power world game
This series marked the twelfth World Series meeting between the Dodgers and Yankees and the first since 1981. It was also the thirteenth meeting between teams from New York City and Los Angeles for a major professional sports championship. https://helpinghandspublications.com/ This previously happened in four World Series (1963, 1977, 1978, 1981), three NBA Finals (1970, 1972, and 1973) and the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. Following the 2024 World Series, LA teams held a five to four advantage over New York City teams in terms of championship matchups between the two cities.
The Dodgers added another run in the sixth inning when Gavin Lux was hit by a Jake Cousins pitch, stole second base, and scored on a single by Enrique Hernández. The Yankees left five runners on base over the next three innings before Alex Verdugo followed an Anthony Rizzo single with a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to cut the Los Angeles lead in half at 4–2. However, the next batter, Gleyber Torres, grounded out to end the game and give the Dodgers a 3–0 series lead. Buehler pitched five scoreless innings in the game for the Dodgers to receive the win.
With one swing, Freeman claimed the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history and handed Los Angeles a 6-3 win over New York to begin what already is shaping up to be a thrilling Fall Classic between two high-profile franchises.
Game around the world
1) Thankfully I have a camera projector, so I just show the card (we’ve been practicing measurement facts this month) on the projector for the whole class to see. All students have been much more engaged because they can all see the question and mentally try to answer it. And I don’t have to run around the whole classroom with the cards wearing myself out.
The goal of ‘around the world’ game is for players to spell out the words ‘Around the world’ by naming places they would like to visit. The places must start with the letters A, R, O, U, N, D, T, H, E, W, O, R, L, D, in this exact order. Therefore, the player that begins the game must know how to play ‘Around the world’.
2. Explain the rules. You will be asking the two kids a math question (for example, “What is 5 x 6?”). The first person to answer the question correctly will move to the next challenger in the column, while the other person sits down. The person who answered correctly and the new challenger stands up together.
Are you on the hunt for spelling activities and ideas for spelling games that won’t make your students groan? Hey, we get it! Spelling is a crucial skill that helps our students communicate and build the skills they need to be proficient writers, but the structure of the English language doesn’t exactly make it easy for kids to learn.
‘Around the world’ can be played even with 3 players, but things are much more fun when there are several people involved. That’s what makes it a great activity in a classroom – because it works well with any size group, it can last as long as you wish, and is an excellent short time-filler at the end of a class.

“No one’s done what we’re trying to accomplish ,” said catcher Austin Wells, “so I think if you put too much pressure on it at this point, you’re going to fail yourself, and you’re not going to enjoy the journey. I think seeing what happens and having fun is where we’re at.”
“I just wanted to look in Blake’s eyes. Blake’s our guy. Blake’s been our guy. I just wanted to slow the game down a little bit,” Roberts said in his postgame interview on Fox. “I looked in his eyes, I said, ‘how you feeling? How much more you got?’
Giancarlo Stanton popped up to Mookie Betts on Treinen’s first pitch after Roberts’ visit and then Anthony Rizzo struck out on four pitches, ending the inning and leaving the bottom of the order for Buehler and a World Series title.
Koufax punched out 15 and held the Yankees to two runs in a Game 1 complete game. Then, with the Dodgers up three games to none in the series (sound familiar?), Koufax again went the distance, striking out eight over nine innings of one-run ball to sweep the Yanks.
